Mrs. Rita Marley is the founder of The Bob Marley Foundation. Born Rita Anderson in Cuba and raised from an early age in Trenchtown, Kingston, she married the Hon. Robert Nesta Marley, O.M. in 1966. They both endured many hardships as a couple from the inner city and she would balance her own singing career with the unwavering support she gave to her husband’s legendary musical journey. Today, she continues to fight for the ideals spread by the messages in Bob’s songs – African unity, world peace, truth and rights, and a brighter future for the children.

Rita Marley founded the Bob Marley Museum in 1986 to ensure that Brother Bob's legacy lives on and his words continue to inspire millions in Jamaica and around the world.

The directors for the Foundation include Mrs. Rita Marley, Cedella Marley, Ziggy Marley, Stephen Marley, Stephanie Marley and Sharon Marley.
